The Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters (MBIFL), launched in 2018, is South India’s largest literature festival—an annual celebration of ideas, dialogue, and creativity held at the iconic Kanakakkunnu Palace in Thiruvananthapuram.

The 2026 edition, held from January 29 to February 1, marked the festival’s 7th year and brought together a diverse community of writers, authors, influencers, politicians, celebrities, and sports personalities.

Pallium India participated in MBIFL 2026 with a dedicated stall (Stall No. 3), sharing space with a vibrant mix of for-profit and non-profit organisations. The festival offered a meaningful platform to highlight Pallium India’s Rehabilitation pillar, showcasing creative products made by our care recipients—crochet items, scented candles, edibles, jute bags, murals, and more. All proceeds from the sales directly support our patients under rehabilitation care. Dr. Rajagopal’s books were also displayed, drawing interest from literature enthusiasts and visitors alike.

Over the four days, Pallium India’s stall attracted a diverse audience—families, students, children, senior citizens, delegates, doctors, and festival-goers—many of whom engaged deeply with our work. Crochet products emerged as a major crowd favourite, selling out quickly, while visitors also showed keen interest in the Annadanam campaign, booking meals for inpatients under Pallium India’s care.

One of the visitors, Mr. Jayachandran Abhiram who bought scented candles from the stall went on to share his experience on social media appealing others to buy the products to encourage and support our beneficiaries.

Social Officer Gokul and Sayan from the Resource Mobilisation Team represented Pallium India throughout the festival, supported by volunteers Mr. Balachandran, Mr. Sojan, Mr. Prasad, Mr. Krishnaraj, and Mrs. Rema, who interacted with visitors and helped manage the stall. Shriya Singh, COO of Pallium India, also visited the stall, representing the leadership team.

MBIFL 2026 proved to be a valuable opportunity for Pallium India to connect with the public, build visibility, and share stories of care, creativity, and dignity. We look forward to returning next year and continuing these meaningful conversations at one of India’s most celebrated literature festivals.
