The prestigious Sanjay Gandhi Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) at Lucknow was one of the centers in which the Pallium India project (funded by United States Cancer Pain Relief Committee) was started.

As part of the project, a doctor and nurse have been trained at Trivandrum and the clinic is run jointly by them along with Dr Shakeel Ahmed, a palliative care physician.

Dr Shakeel Ahmed writes to say that the palliative care service at Lucknow has just started a home visit program.
