We heard an inspirational narrative from the Art of Living team in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, which is headed by Dr. Aditi Chaturvedi and consists of highly motivated volunteers.

Someone with an amazing tale lives in a small Himachal Pradesh town. He was involved in a serious accident ten years ago. Despite the doctors’ doubts, he lived. He was unable to recall his identity for an entire year following the catastrophe. His family was always there to support and assist him.

Not that things got any easier after that difficult year. He developed large sores and lost sensation in several parts of his body. But he persevered with the support of his devoted wife and family.

He cannot walk anymore, but he has made peace with it. He offers free tuition to children because it gives him a sense of meaning and purpose. He also helps his family with decision-making. He says he is happy with his life, and that he is grateful for everything. 

This person’s story teaches us that we can find strength even in tough times. His positive outlook models for us how we can overcome anything life throws at us.

His unwavering commitment to serve and be useful to others despite his condition reminds us that nothing can stop someone who is truly committed to serving others. It is not wealth and physical capacity that determines spirit. What counts is the willingness, attitude and desire to be useful to others.
