Did you know young people are increasingly taking on significant caregiving roles? This session explored the growing phenomenon of young people taking on significant caregiving roles, often balancing their education, careers, and personal lives with the responsibilities typically assumed by older generations and potential solutions to address them. both from the perspective of what the challenges are and how they can address those challenges.
What does this mean for their career, mental health and education? What challenges weigh on their shoulders? and what opportunities await?
This session was an initiative aimed at answering these questions. Moderated by Smriti Rana (Head, Strategic Programs and Partnerships, Pallium India) the panel included three youngsters who joined from India and the Middle East, sharing their caregiving experiences of their loved ones.
Nishant Singh, Najwa Maqbool and Nihala Kathoon were in the panel. The panelists were given a time frame of 20 minutes each to present to the participants, followed by an interactive panel discussion which lasted for another 20 minutes and a 15 minute Q&A session!. Around 80 participants joined from India and abroad.
Katherine Pettus ( Director, International Association of Hospice and Palliative Care, IAHPC) and Dr. Parth Sharma (Community Physician and Founding Editor, Nivarana) shared their views and thoughts on the topic bringing the session to a closure!
