Dr C. S Pramesh received Lifetime Achievement Award at the Indian Society for Clinical Research (ISCR) annual conference in appreciation of his role as a change agent in the field of healthcare, research and patient care.

Dr Pramesh (Director, Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai) leads the National Cancer Grid (NCG), a collaborative of 264 cancer centres in India and a few from abroad.

As the NCG Convener, he leads the grid towards providing uniform standards of cancer care across the country, reducing inequities and making cancer treatment accessible to all geographic regions and strata of society. The NCG has a proven record of being a major factor in humanising cancer care in India by creating universally accepted guidelines for treatment, guiding need-based research, and facilitating educational programmes.

The NCG is a network of major cancer centres, research institutes, patient groups and charitable institutions across India with the mandate of establishing uniform standards of patient care for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer.It promotes uniform evidence based guidelines for management of patients, and collaborative clinical research, which ensures same quality of care to patients in all centres from any part of the country.

Dr Pramesh is also a visiting professor at the Division of Cancer Studies, King’s College London and the Institute of Cancer Policy, King’s Health Partners, London. He has written more than 200 peer-reviewed journal articles, including topics such as collaborative research and cancer policy. The ISCR is an association of Indian clinical research professionals and provides a forum for exchange of information and learning.
