Several years back at an annual meeting of the National Cancer Grid (NCG) at Tata Cancer Hospital, Mumbai, several palliative care doctors got together and started the work on creation of a tool to measure Serious Health-related Suffering (SHS). But progress was slow until Dr Nandini Vallath took the lead and made things happen.
