Ms. Sherin Wilfred and Ms. Bincy Babu, medical social workers of Pallium India shared their COVID-lockdown experiences (“Palliative Care Social Work Activities during the Covid Times“) with an international audience brought together by Loyola College of Social Sciences in Trivandrum, Ersta Skondal Bräcke University College Sweden and Munich University of Applied Sciences.

The Zoom-conference included researchers, teachers, students and exchange alumni from Brazil, Columbia, Chile, South Africa, US, Lebanon, Philippines, Greece, Germany, Spain, Scotland, Iraq, Denmark and India.

The helpline and follow up action by MSWs has indeed been one of intense satisfaction for all of us at Pallium India. The story that they shared of a mother and daughter whom the world practically abandoned at the time of the lockdown, was just one of the hundreds unearthed by this team.

The audience expressed keen interest at what medical social workers can do in the context of health-related suffering in a low-middle income country. Thank you Professor Sony and congratulations, Sherin and Bincy.
