Ms Val Hunkin

Our friend and benefactor, Mr Bruce Davis writes to give us some sad news. Ms Val Hunkin, a great friend of Indian palliative care and one who has taught communication skills to many many of us, died of advanced cancer today.

Val was taken ill a year and half back while on a cruise, she was taken to a hospital in the USA and given the diagnosis of cancer. She has had a tough fight with the disease, supported by her dear friend Jeni and many others.

Goodbye, Val. You were a great friend. You touched a lot of lives in India. Thank you.

Thank you to all who have written personally from Kerala, from Assam and Vellore to share your memories and experiences of Val. Thank you too, for your messages of support and care.
Never one to enjoy the limelight, Val would have been happy to know that a bit of her spirit will very gently and quietly live on in your own pursuit of the vision and ideals you shared for palliative care services in India.
