Read this report in the Hindu: Man seeks euthanasia for son

How many such stories will we have to hear before some solution emerges on this? We checked. There seems to be no palliative care services available anywhere nearby in that part of Andhra Pradesh.

Let this story not spur us on to a discussion on the merits and demerits of euthanasia. Just listen for the plea behind the plea. What kind of people are we, if we cannot even get across to that child the simplest and least expensive of pain medicines! What kind of medical system do we provide?

You and I are responsible. We cannot get away from the blame as we live in a democracy and we run the government.
