“Our society has always taken good care of us. Now our people are suffering. We wanted to do our bit for the community, but did not know how to contribute, because of our various limitations, physical as well as financial. Now you have given us an opportunity. We will not be taking any payment for this work, please accept this as our humble contribution.” These are the words of three amazing ladies, Smt Ambika, Smt Joyamma, and Smt Bregitt, residents of Cheshire Home, a home for the differently-abled in Thiruvananthapuram.

Pallium India’s volunteers and health care workers travel in and around the city every day to reach patients, and the need for masks is very high. We were quickly running out of stock, and we had to find other methods to procure masks. The cloth required for creating around 400 masks was donated by our volunteer Sri Sahad, who runs his own boutique in Thiruvananthapuram.

We approached these wonderful ladies for making masks, at a cost, of course. After a few days, when we went to collect the masks, we were overwhelmed by what they said. As always, we are astounded by the selflessness we see around us, especially in trying times like these.
