Pallium India was invited by its well wisher and partner – Sneha Sandhya Foundation to collaborate and talk about enhancing palliative care in the state to the Honorable Health Minister of Andhra Pradesh on Jan 23rd 2025. We are very thankful to Dr. NS Raju, Managing Trustee of Sneha Sandhya Age Care Foundation, Vishkhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh to give us this privilege of joining him in this meeting with the minister.

Dementia India Alliance from Bangalore was also a part of the team and talked about Dementia Care which is another important area of focus for elderly population. Together, all three organizations, Age Care Foundation, Dementia India Alliance and Pallium India presented a plan to the minister in which, with the support of the state health department, new dementia centers and palliative care centers can be started in the government hospitals.

The honourable minister gave all of us a very patient hearing and allowed us to explain in detail the current state of affairs in Andhra. He took a special interest in what needs to be done in terms of capacity building, opioid availability, policy-making and overall accessibility of such services for the needy population of Andhra. The meeting ended with a promise him to forward our requests to the Health Secretary and the Health Commissioner of the state for further execution and planning.

All of us are geared up to work together with the Andhra Health Department in enhancing palliative care and dementia care with a strong focus on geriatric care.
