Pallium India, in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Apex Skill Development Centre (TNASDC), initiated a series of workshops aimed at increasing palliative care awareness across Tamil Nadu. The inaugural workshop was held on August 31, 2024, in partnership with Dr. Jeyasekharan Medical Trust, Nagercoil, with 111 participants from local nursing colleges and hospitals.

The workshop commenced with a warm welcome from Lt. Col. Velamal, Nursing Superintendent. Distinguished guests, including Dr. Daniel Jayashekaran and Dr. Joseph Ranjith Jayashekaran from Dr. Jeyasekharan Medical Trust, along with Mr. Lenin from TNASDC, shared insights on the significance of palliative care in healthcare for the region. Dr. Renuka, introduced the core principles of palliative care, while Dr. Radha Venkateshan conducted sessions on pain management and ethics in end-of-life care. Sr. Sheeba R.S. discussed care for bedbound patients, emphasizing compassionate, holistic care.

Mr. Senthil Kumar highlighted the role of community-based palliative care, stressing the importance of early intervention and community involvement.

The session concluded with an interactive revision led by Dr. Radha, encouraging active discussions among participants.

This successful event marks the beginning of a series aimed at integrating palliative care into healthcare services in Tamil Nadu.
