New OP Inaugurated at Military Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram
The Pain and Palliative Care OPD at Military Hospital (MH) Trivandrum was inaugurated on August 13, 2024 by Dr M R Rajagopal, Chairman Emeritus of Pallium India, alongside Brigadier Salil M.P., Stn Commander 91 Infantry Brigade.
The new OPD represents a significant advancement in providing specialized care to servicemen, veterans and their dependents. This initiative, a collaborative effort between MH Trivandrum and Pallium India, aims to deliver comprehensive pain and palliative care services, addressing the complex needs of patients and improving their quality of life.
Dr. M.R. Rajagopal praised the initiative as a crucial step towards expanding access to essential services.
Brigadier Salil M.P. expressed his support for the project, highlighting its importance in ensuring that those who have dedicated their lives to serving the nation receive the compassionate and effective care they deserve. Col Sudheer Anayath, Commanding officer, MH Trivandrum told the attendees that this is a pilot project and depending on the response the services will be extended to other centres under the SEMO cover.
The inauguration was attended by numerous senior officers and veterans, underscoring the community’s commitment to this important cause.
This palliative care OPD has started functioning from August 19, 2024 from 10 am to 12 and will be working every Monday. The palliative care team comprises of a palliative care physician, a nurse and a social officer. The new OPD will provide tailored care to manage pain and enhance comfort, reflecting a shared dedication to the well-being of our nation’s heroes.
