Dr M. R Rajagopal, Chairman of Pallium India, writes:

In my field of palliative care, anywhere in the world, one gets to meet the most compassionate and genuine human beings. Prof Sreedevi Krishnan was one such.

About four years back in San Jose, CA, when the movie Hippocratic was being screened by the Australian film-making company, Moonshine Agency, Prof Sreedevi Krishnan was a member of the audience. We connected so well with each other as human beings that I started calling her “Chechi” [elder sister] and I became “brother” to her. I got to read her books which appealed to me with their intrinsic humanity and honesty, of course in addition to her very readable style of writing.

She interviewed me for emalayalee.com ‘Janani’ when my book “Walk with the weary” was published and today, I cherish those moments that she spent with me and the kind words that she had for me.

I believe every genuine smile, every single act of kindness and every bit of valuable writing for posterity, makes the world a better place.

Dear Sreedevi Chechi, your parting was so painfully abrupt. Now that you are a memory, I realize how valuable your life was, a life lived truly well, spreading cheer, compassion and goodness all around you. Thank you for being in my life and for being part of Pallium India.
