International Day of Persons With Disabilities: December 3, 2022
The annual observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on 3 December was proclaimed in 1992 by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 47/3. The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.
The theme of 2022 IDPWD: “Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fuelling an accessible and equitable world“.
On this day, the Rehabilitation department and Social Engagement department of Pallium India are planning to conduct a friendly gathering in “Differently-abled friendly Sensory Park” at Thiruvananthapuram Museum Campus to promote a campaign towards making more public places disabled-friendly.
Later at 3.00pm the same day, there will be an interaction with our guests of honour, people with disabilities as well as well-known personalities from different walks of life, at Pallium India, Paruthikkuzhy, Thiruvananthapuram. Titled Tea with dignitaries, this program is meant to understand the problems faced by differently-abled persons and the impact of disability, and to provide a platform for advocacy in all aspects of their life.
