Pallium India is among the three institutions that won this year’s International Association for Hospice and Palliative Care (IAHPC) Institutional Recognition Awards, which celebrate institutions dedicated to developing and providing palliative care to improve the quality of life of patients with serious health related suffering.

While Pallium India won the award among middle-income countries, Hospice Africa Uganda (HAU) won the low-income country award and Anam Cara House Colac, Australia was selected winner among high-income countries. The award consists of a US$1,000 cash prize and a one-year IAHPC institutional membership.

Thiruvananthapuram-based Pallium India has footprints in 27 states within India and beyond. It educates stakeholders from across the country and has so far trained over 4,000 health care workers and others. It also facilitates the provision of palliative care by collaborating with governments, NGOs, private organisations and communities for developing Palliative Care Centres (PCC). So far, it has catalyzed development of over 50 such centres outside Kerala.
