The “Inaugural U.S World Hospice & Palliative Care Day Celebration: A Virtual Coming Together” took place on Saturday, October 10 in recognition of the WHPCA World Hospice & Palliative Care Day.

The event was led and organized by Billy Rosa, PhD, NP, Shila Pandey, NP, and Andrew Epstein, MD of the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center Supportive Care Service, New York, USA. The event was a daylong event focused on hospice and palliative care community building and wisdom sharing.

Opening comments were given by Dr. Felicia Knaul, Chair of the Lancet Commission on Global Access to Palliative Care & Pain Relief, and closing comments were delivered by Dr. Katherine Pettus, Advocacy Officer of the International Association for Hospice & Palliative Care. Additional panel presentations focused on social justice and health equity, palliative nursing, palliative and hospice care leadership, and spiritual, existential, psychosocial, and ethical considerations during COVID-19.

Dr. Ann Broderick, Chair of the Pallium India USA Board described Pallium India as a “Global Exemplar” of exemplary palliative care delivery in a significantly resource-constrained country. A full list of speaker bios and schedule of the event can be found HERE
