One more state – we are growing, though slowly.
Most of the North and North-East of India have very little palliative care. Hence we are particularly happy to report of the progress in the state of Uttarakhand.
Pallium India is working with Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical and Health Sciences in Dehradun, with the assistance of Jamsetji Tata Trust, to initiate a palliative care program in that institution and also to promote the cause of palliative care in the state. As an advocacy measure, the local pioneer, Dr Mayank Gupta took the lead to organise the first state conference in palliative care in Uttarakhand, on 25-26 June 2016 with wholehearted support from Ganga Prem Hospice.
The conference was a resounding success. The Chief Minister Shri Rawat himself attended the event. We are optimistic!
