Awards and Honors

  1. Chairman of Pallium India, Dr M. R. Rajagopal was honored by the Government of India with the Padma Shri award in 2018.
  2. American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (APPHM) honored Dr Rajagopal as a Visionary in Hospice and Palliative Medicine in 2018.
  3. Dr M. R. Rajagopal was one of the recipients of the prestigious Alison Des Forges Award for Extraordinary Activism in 2014 by Human Rights Watch ( for Pallium India’s services in defending the citizens’ right to access to pain relief, particularly for Pallium India’s role in amendment of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act by the Parliament of India in 2014 and the creation of the National Program of Palliative Care (NPPC) by Government of India in 2012.
  4. Sat Paul Mittal Award of appreciation 2017 instituted by Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust.
  5. Healers of India award instituted by Appollo Hospitals and Network18.
  6. Navjeevan Inspiration of the Year award 2017.
