Pallium India invites applications to the post of Regional Facilitator – North India based in Chandigarh (or other major cities in North India).

Qualification :  MBA or Equivalent

Experience : 1 to 5 years’ experience in coordination in the healthcare sector. Working in an NGO environment with a regional set-up preferred. Exposure to Palliative care & services is an advantage.

Reports to : National Lead – Facilitation

Location : Chandigarh or in major cities in North India

Remuneration : As per standards

Travelling :  Domestic, 50% across states in the region

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Catalyse new palliative care centres and services
    • Work with public and private medical institutions to set up palliative care programs including in-patient care, out-patient care and home-care.
    • Liaison with State National Health Missions, government and private hospital officials for advancement of palliative care in the state
    • Organize/facilitate training programs, workshops and sensitization sessions on palliative care service delivery and opioid availability for relevant stakeholders.
    • Facilitate training (on site as well as virtual) of palliative care providers/private hospitals, local champions to do advocacy for specific needs in their regions.
    • Follow up of trained personnel and track their ability to apply palliative care practices on a regular basis.
    • Develop a regional action plan for palliative care advancement and implement the approved action plan.
    • Undertake any other relevant tasks for the advancement of palliative care at the national and state levels.
  • Assist in opioid accessibility in all regions & medical institutes
    • Encourage governments to improve access to essential narcotic drugs such as oral morphine by collaborating to review and revise unduly restrictive laws and regulations, educate prescribers, and raise public awareness on the need of these medicines
    • Advocate to bring about necessary, balanced and rational changes in law and policies for the advancement of palliative care.
    • Advocate for state palliative care policy.
    • Provide guidance on Recognised Medical Institution application process to stakeholders.
  • Enable Palliative Care learning in Medical Institutes
    • Work for integration of palliative care in the health system and medical and nursing education at regional level.
  • Build up Community engagement & volunteer mobilization
    • Understand the unique strengths and challenges of the territories under their purview and work with volunteers and organizations to initiate and implement palliative care projects with a focus on community engagement and mobilization.
    • Explore new opportunities to improve community participation in palliative care with local religious and charitable organizations, student’s initiatives, retired professionals and self-help groups.
    • Take the initiative to identify champions from amongst medical fraternity and communities.
    • Establish connections with local journalists, media personnel, public health advocates and health activists and explore ways to advance palliative care
  • Administrative responsibilities
    • Document, write reports, concept notes and proposals and undertake research to contribute to Pallium India’s learning process and fund raising.
    • Submit weekly progress reports and any other relevant reports and trackers to the Division Head
    • Undertake any other relevant tasks assigned by the Division Head and the leadership of the organization
