Thank you, everyone, who responded to our plea for help for our volunteer in California. It is amazing how many people wanted to help. I particularly thank Prof. Prithvi Raj who got us connected to the pain team at University of California, San Francisco. I am glad to say that she got excellent care there, most importantly, she was treated as a person.
She, who had lost about 40 lbs in 4 months, is now gaining weight, her pain is under reasonable control, and now she is hopeful. She is being discharged from the hospital today with a hospital bed that will suit her and with promise of follow up by a nurse, periodically.
We thank everyone who responded and offered to help – Dr Kathy Foley, Dr Jim Cleary, Prof Jo Eland, Dr Eric Krakauer, and many many others whom I am not naming here, and particularly Dr Jessica Evert, who has been visiting her almost every day and offering support.
