Lancet Oncology has come out with an article highlighting the serious situation in India regarding lack of opioid access that causes millions to be in needless pain. We thank the author, Dinesh Sharma, for highlighting this problem. You can read the article here.

We hope this article adds on to the current wave of public opinion in favor of simplification of narcotic regulations by the Parliament of India. We hear that there may be one extension of the Winter session of the Parliament, possibly from February 05 onwards, though the final decision is yet to be taken. We also hear that there will be very little time for legislation at this session. Though the chances are not very much in favor, we pledge to make a renewed effort at the necessary action by the Indian Parliament.
